Aber Falls

Aber Falls in Bangor

An unmistakably great place to escape from the drudgery of a long, cold January, Bangor has many superb attractions, activities, sights and sounds which always draw to it. If you’re enjoying your stay at your holiday park in North Wales, then a short trip into the charming city could make it that much better.

As one of the smallest cities in Britain, you’d expect there to be a lack of activity throughout this scenic area but Bangor is constantly thronging with things to do and this is in small part down to some of the fantastic attractions.

There’s a reason why so many students in Wales opt for Bangor University instead of the supposedly superior places of learning in the south and that is that the university itself is of the highest standard. Rather than just being a student only zone, Bangor University has plenty of opportunities for locals to get involved in activities across a range of different exciting ways.

Away from education, Bangor gives back in many other aspects with its archaic structures and wonderful surroundings always quite the draw. The allure of some of these old-age buildings and tapestries is what keeps tourism rates at impressive highs with one such attraction being Penrhyn Castle.

There’s a definite mystical feel to Penrhyn and it’s this sort of aura that is present as soon as you walk through its gates. More so a manor house than a castle, this monument to a bygone age speaks of the decadence pf the 19th century and is a must-see for historians and architecture fanatics alike.

If a walk around an old building doesn’t sound like it would appeal to the kids then there are also plenty of fun days out suited especially for them. Bangor’s swimming pool offers aquatic action to the young ones and after they’re dry, a jump into the ball pen at The Play Centre should cap off their day out in an exciting way!

After the kids are all tuckered out, there are still plenty of sights for the whole family to enjoy. The gorgeous Aber Falls are a sight not soon forgotten with a walk along Bangor Pier during sunset being the prefect way to end your day in one of the most idyllic cities in the country.
