The Menai Straits regatta is an annual two week event which includes a round Anglesey Menai Regattarace, as well as the famous race under the two bridges to Caernarfon and other races at different towns, for example Beaumaris, Bangor, Caernarfon and Port Dinorwic.

This is one of the summer’s classic regattas, and is host to a great many yachts participating in some of the many races available. With half price car parking at Beaumaris, you can sign up online to join this wonderful event and sail your boat alongside many more.

The round Anglesey race starts and finishes at the Menai Bridge, with doubtless many people there to enjoy the show. There are also dinghy races, which is a tradition being worked upon in order to secure its revival.

Every day prizes are given for dinghies of more than 6 boats of one type taking part. Beaumaris features much in the event, with different races taking place there, including the start of the Regatta, which is a race from Beaumaris to Caernarfon.

There is a great selection of accommodation venues available in many of the neighboring town including many seafront Beaumaris bed and breakfast establishments and Caernarfon Hotels with some even having stunning views over the Menai Straits.

Sailors reading this will already know the excellence of this spectacular event, and it serves as a means to make new friends, or to renew old ones. Every year the regatta proves to be an incredible two weeks, and this year it should be no different, this august from the 6th to the 18th.
