The Anglesey Oyster Festival is an annual event that has been going for many years. It began as an informal social event where oysters and alcohol were consumed with music and plenty of Welsh and Irish dance on offer too. In 2000 a group of volunteers formed a committee to organise the future of the Oyster festival and the annual Oyster and Welsh produce Festival was born. It has grown every year and is now extremely popular with tourists coming from all over the UK and beyond to enjoy the wonderful oysters.
The festival will be held on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of October in the Trearddur Bay Hotel in Anglesey. The Event has expanded to appeal to more than just seafood lovers with a huge range of local Welsh produce on offer but it is recommended you try the delicacy that is the fresh Anglesey oysters. The best and freshest oysters will be on displays along with other Welsh food. Local producers will be selling their food and specialist producers are invited to attend too so there will be plenty of wonderful things to sample.
Every October this event attracts around 3000 tourists to Anglesey to enjoy these incredible oysters. It is about more than just eating as you can meet with the food and drink producers, watch cookery demonstrations, see great competitions and of course sample plenty of food. Perhaps the festival will inspire your cooking skills and you can pick up great ideas such as how to cook oyster fritters if you attend the festival.
This is the event of the year for all foodies and especially seafood lovers.
