It’s no secret that North Wales is one of the best places to experience the breathtaking views, sleep under the stars and wake up in remote spots at the foot of mountains, forests and Lakes. Camper van hire lets you do this, with all the comforts from home.
Of course, the benefits of waking up in a spacious Volkswagen Camper far outweigh the joys of a tent when you can just jump in the driver’s seat and zip along to your next destination without wasting a minute of your day. You can’t visit North Wales without making the most of its famous coastline. On sunny days, one of our many blue flag beaches is the place to be. Treaddur Bay is one of Anglesey’s award winning beaches where visitors enjoy activities like rambling, windsurfing and sailing. Just park up along the coastline or at the nearby camping and off you go. Naturally, in North Wales we’re used to dramatic weather changes but if you’re not, your cosy camper van will keep you safe and dry away from the elements. Today’s camper vans to hire are often fully equipped to have charging facilities so you’ll have entertainment too.
If you’re looking for something a bit more active, why not try one of the family friendly coastal paths dotted around North and Mid Wales. One of the most beautiful routes is the Mawddach Trail (19 miles), which offers traffic free cycling around the foothills of Cader Idris and the Mawddach Estuary starting at the historic little town of Dolgellau. Conwy Campervan hire can supply a bike rack if you want to bring along your own bike, or if you’d prefer, rent one at activity hotspots like Barmouth or Betws-y-Coed.
Want more spectacular views? You won’t get better than the towering mountains around Snowdonia. You know when you’re at the gateway to Snowdonia National Park when you meet the windy roads around this sculpted and dramatic landscape. If walking is your thing, then the one of the many Snowdon routes gives you the choice to really challenge yourself or take a lighter pace up the 1085 meter mountain. These routes take anywhere between 2.5-7 hours depending on your pace, chosen route and ability. We can promise you’ll be tired out after this great walk up to the summit so you might want to save exploring the old slate mine village of Llanberis for another day. Not far from here you’ll find a station for the steam trains of Ffestiniog & Welsh Mountain Railways which run all the way from Caernarfon through to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Before you leave, you can’t miss one of North Wales’ famous Castles and there’s plenty to choose from. As they’re all relatively close together with good road links between, why not see how many you can see in a day. A great place to start from would be Conwy Castle, known for its strong appearance perching up from the rock it sits on which gives the town a very medieval appearance. Go on to visit Beaumaris Castle, which sits in the centre of a picturesque town with a pier front. From there, there walled town and Castle of Caernarfon is always a favourite. The cobbled streets will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The beauty of a home on wheels is that you can choose to stay or just move on whenever you like.
