One of the most revered and beloved theatres in all of Wales, this month’s line-up at Galeri Caernarfon is the place to be for the arts when you visit West Point beach resort.
As you’d come to expect from a venue of continuously high calibre, November’s list of entertainment rivals any you’d find anywhere across the country. Along with Venue Cymru, Galeri Caernarfon highlights the best local works as well as housing worldwide smashes all year long.
Since starting on the 18th of October, the OPEN exhibition has been a unique and lauded occasion with so many respected artists ranging from Adrian Jackson to Veronica Calarco showing off their expertise in the visual arts. With plenty to see still before its close on the 8th of November, this is a brilliant time for any connoisseur or budding new artists.
The start of the month also sees the Crefft Cyfoes Caernarfon kicking off in great fashion with experts from all over coming to show their work. This is a fine opportunity to discover some hidden gems in the community and with free admission, there’s no reason for you to miss out on an exciting day.
On the same day on the 2nd, the popular Heads South take to the stage are set to enthral the audience with their exciting blend of Latin Jazz. Known for their effortless control of melody and rhythm, this band look all set to take the music scene by storm and you could be one of the first to see them do their thing.
Professional plays abound at Galeri Caernarfon too this November with home-grown and worldwide talents set to perform for an adoring audience. Llanast is a historic adaption to the Welsh language of a beloved comedy play called ‘Le Dieu de Carnage’: recently released in theatres as Carnage by Roman Polanski to critical acclaim. On a more sombre tone, Pridd looks like it could be aheartbreaking tale of one man’s struggle with a complete change with the world – possibly one for just adults.
On a musical note, there’s plenty of beautiful harmonies to be found at the venue in November with a wide and varied range of acts looking to excite. The acclaimed Welsh National Opera are going to bring the house down when they perform Tonic on the 20th with cellist Matthew Barley covering the wonderful works of Benjamin Britten on the 8th also. The much loved Welsh export which is Jamie Smith’s Mabon are due to bring their much acclaimed InterCeltic music to proceedings on the 22nd in what brilliantly rounds off a month of music.
As ever, Galeri Caernarfon highlights some brilliant cinema with screenings of films such as Jurassic Park, Planes, About Time and the just-for-adults Call Girl. Perhaps most excitingly of all however is the pioneering evening of 3D at Sblash O Olau: a truly magical collection of short films that are imposed onto a 10 metre high wall on Victoria Dock on the 11th of November.
With such a variety of exciting and thoughtful events, Galeri Caernarfon is the premier destination for the arts in North Wales during your holiday and you’re sure to find something to your taste.
