The Conwy River Festival is definitely worth a visit if you are living or visiting Conwy at that time of year. Many guests from Berthlwyd Hall Holiday Park Conwy have been known to visit the event and have commented on what a great day it is. The festival is a celebration of the relationship between the walled town of Conwy 
and its beautiful river estuary. Over the years, this festival has grown, until now different aspects of both the town and the river are both celebrated in different ways, in both a new fashion and an old.
Racing attracts people from all over North Wales and the North West, and entries from even further away. Berthing for any competitors is FREE.
The aim of the race is for people to enjoy themselves while improving their skills, rather than an endurance test, and because of this, races are kept short, to a maximum of 3 hours.
Courses are also set out in the waters of Conwy Bay, so there’s more than enough room. For Yachts, There are various classes for different kinds of competitors, these include ‘Olympians’ which are serious competitors, the more relaxed ‘Trojans’ and the beginners ‘Corinthians’ who get a 15 minute handicap, so they don’t have to feel the pressure of a very crowded start. For dayboats, there are the ‘Athenians’ who sail smaller courses, there are joined by the ‘Spartan’ class, which is for small cruisers under 6 meters, although these two classes sail together, they have separate prizes.
Other varieties have races too. Prizes to be won include magnificent trophies, with prizes for every type of boat, and mementoes for everyone to participate, so you have something to remember the day by.
For non-sailors, there’s the quay-day, this includes activities for all, things to eat and buy, sideshows, a pirate fancy dress competition, bouncy castle, clowns, stilt walkers and many other incredible attractions. With a friendly atmosphere, its sure to be a magnificent day out.
