zipjoyWhat do you get when you combine a harness, a zipline and the perilous heights of Snowdonia into one day out? The fantastic attraction that is Zip World: one of the many great things to do in the area near The Oakeley Arms.

People often comment that North Wales is a bit quiet but who’s to say that’s a bad thing? You’d never be afforded the opportunity to fly through the skies with only the wind in your face for company in the big city, but that’s exactly what you can enjoy at this day out near Bethesda.

As well as featuring on BBC’s The One Show, Zip World has been the talk of social media since it launched and still brings in plenty of eager daredevils and coerced doubters from far and wide. It’s a popular destination for office days out and stag do’s as what else could make a bond stronger than zipping across the skies and sharing a sense of terror?

The height and scale of the activity is so great that the Velocity zipline is the longest of its kind throughout Europe and the fastest in the world. If you’re not up to the challenge, you can of course take a (small) step down and clip yourself on to the Titan line instead. It’s not a walk in the park by any means but perhaps being a part of a team of four zipping down in tandem will be of some comfort. You won’t find this opportunity anywhere else in Europe so you best go ahead and take it!

So, are you up to the challenge? There are a few restrictions in place to make sure everything goes off without a hitch; children are also only permitting if they’re 10 and above for Velocity and 7 and above for Titan. There’s no age limit in place however – the oldest rider to take on Zip World so far was 94 years old.

If you’ve sufficiently geed yourself up enough that you might take it on, you should really sort out your stay beforehand. Considering the amount of time is needed to set up the zipline, prepare you for what to do and to put all precautions in place, you may actually be out all day. Who wants to get in their car and drive home after an adrenaline-fueled day when you could just take up accommodation near Zip World instead?

The Oakeley Arms is just a 13 minute drive away from Zip World Titan, which is the perfect distance to travel. After your draining day flying through the skies, they will have a tall drink and a hearty meal waiting for you. Whether you’re staying in the hotel or retreating to one of their cottages, you could hardly ask for a better way to wrap up your day.

With rooms in short supply and with Zip World closing for the season in February, be sure to call The Oakeley Arms on 01766 590277 or email bookings@oakeleyarms.co.uk whilst time permits.
