seed handsConwy is a town which is proud of its rich heritage and holds fantastic events all throughout the year which celebrate the past but still remain appealing to all. As such, town organisers have again excelled with this year’s edition of the Conwy Seed Fair – a great foray away from your lodges in Snowdonia.

There are a few events which celebrate the food and culture of this medieval town and the See Fair is right up there with the best of them. When you couple this with the Gwledd Food Feast and the Honey Fair, Conwy becomes a brilliant hotspot for tastes of North Wales.

The Seed Fair’s origins stretch back many centuries and are almost as old as the town itself. Although not held by royal orders for almost 700 years, the Seed Fair is still a premier event which attracts plenty of visitors. Edward the 1st declared the event a tradition some seven centuries ago and it has been going strong ever since.

These days, the occasion is organised by the Conwy Beekeepers’ Association who delight in bringing the day out to Lancaster Square every 26th of March. Since 1978, this organisation has been striving to increase honey produce in Wales by introducing people to the fundamentals of beekeeping and along with the annual Honey Fair, they throw a great Seed Fair each year.

At the event itself, you can peruse a fine array of different with each offering something special. If you’re looking to try your hand at improving your garden, then picking up some seeds from the wide selection will bring amazing colour and quality to your garden.

As well as having a plethora of seeds for your interest, there’s also plenty of local crafts and produce for you to sample too. Conwy is rich with items like these with the locals having that special something when it comes to making their own goods, time and time again. Also, a great introduction to the later fair in the year, the honey available from the stalls will make a fantastic preview.

If you’re enjoying your stay in North Wales or a local just wanting to get out more, this superb occasion in March is definitely one to cross off on your events calendar. Gwydyr View Park is only a short drive from Conwy and other wonderful attractions. You can either camp in the holiday park or why not consider buying your very own Gwydyr View Park Lodges so you can come and go when you please.
